The traditional district of Valdres is located midway between Oslo and Bergen, making it the perfect getaway from the big city. Lined in the north and the west by the Jotunheimen Mountains and Heggefjord, its green rolling hills and epic peaks make it an ideal spot for a range of year-round activities from cross-country skiing to hiking and cycling. This is especially true of the Mjølkevegen, one of Norway’s most scenic bike routes.

Valdres is also celebrated for its cultural heritage, and is home to the modernist Valdres Folk Museum which frequently holds lectures, concerts and workshops — and even boasts a vertical rooftop garden.
