Brand Intro

An organic winery, on the sunny terrain of quaint village Oggau, is the location of Gut Oggau – a small family-run wine-making business which produces an abundance of red wine, elegant whites and international renowned sweet wine.

Products

This wine is so special and personalised that Gut Oggau decided to create an entire family tree based on the distinct personalities and characters that each vino embodies. If you’ve ever come across one of their wines, you’re likely not to forget, not just because of its memorable blend, but because each bottle comes with a hand drawn illustration of a face, by German designer and artist Jung Von Matt.

This thoughtful approach to the whole product, from engaging biodynamic processes, through to the conceptual aspect, sets the winery Gut Oggau apart, and their wines have become synonymous with the inherent quality of modern wine culture in Burgenland, Austria and beyond.

A certified organic winery, Gut Oggau works with several local and more recognised varieties: Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc), and Gewürztraminer.

Story

Gut Oggau is a 14-hectare Austrian wine estate located in the province of Burgenland by  shimmering Lake Neusiedl. The area has a long tradition of wine and hospitality, and there are a handful of local personalities that strive to marry that tradition with a modern approach, innovating while also honouring local custom and produce. Stephanie Tscheppe-Eselböck is the perfect example of that union.

Her family is responsible for the local culinary institution, Restaurant Taubenkobel, an exemplar of modern Pannonian cuisine, rewarded by two Michelin stars, and her husband, Eduard Tscheppe, is the son of a winemaking family. Together they produce the wines of Gut Oggau, and after taking over the 200-year-old derelict vineyards and winery, they allowed nature to speak, a process that occurred easily since all residual pesticides and chemicals were no longer present in the soil, allowing them to work directly with nature. They also restored the ancient screw press, beginning their biodynamic journey into viticulture.

Stand Out

This intriguing wine dynasty will capture your attention and lure you into the Oggau family. Will you choose bold, patriarchal red Bertholdi, cheeky white wine Theodora or sweet white Wiltrude?
